CISA released Cybersecurity Essentials for Business leaders
The federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has released a Cyber Essentials Guide for business leaders. It’s a two-page document that explains six steps to lower the risk of being successfully attacked.
- Drive cybersecurity strategy, investment, and culture;
- Develop security awareness and vigilance;
- Protect critical assets and applications;
- Ensure only those who belong on your digital workplace have access;
- Make backups and avoid the loss of information critical to operations; and
- Limit damage and quicken restoration of normal operations.
The agency includes ensuring leaders create a cybersecurity strategy, developing security awareness among staff, protecting critical assets, limiting access to those assets to only those who need it, having safe backups and having a disaster plan. CISA encourages small organizations to review CISA’s Cyber Essentials page to learn more about improving their cybersecurity resilience.
